Discover the region
Beyond the Tricity: discover Pomerania
Extend your city break and discover the region around the capital.
Pomerania is a region where sea, lakes and forests meet, with the Tricity, the metropolitan area made up of Gdańsk, Sopot and Gdynia, at its heart. It comprises seven distinct sub-regions: the Baltic coast and beaches, the lake districts and Kashubia, national parks (Słowiński National Park, Bory Tucholskie) and EuroVelo cycling routes. The region blends centuries of Hanseatic and maritime history with active leisure: sailing, kayaking, hiking and cycling. Its enduring symbol is amber, mined along this coast for centuries.
Malbork Castle
A UNESCO site since 1997: the largest Gothic brick fortress in the world, about 1–1.5 hours from Gdańsk.
The Hel Peninsula
A narrow, sandy Baltic spit, home to the Hel Seal Sanctuary, a haven for grey seals and one of the region's most popular nature attractions.
Kashubia (the "Kashubian Switzerland")
Lake districts, moraine hills and living regional culture west of the Tricity: a classic day-trip destination.
